In Mexico, a very beautiful holiday is celebrated on November 2nd every year: the Day of the Dead.
It is a time to remember those who came before and also to have great food.
Skeletons are also a playful part of the holiday
(like Halloween, only without the occult overtones).
Sybaris is hosting a special lunch on Sunday, October 31st
to present a typical Day of the Dead menu.
I am excited about this since a gentleman who lived and cooked in Mexico
for a time is sharing his turkey mole recipe.
I look forward to learning (and eating!) this vibrant dish from Mr. Morley.
Mole is a very time-consuming and complex dish which restaurants usually
don't do well, because they cheat and use short cuts;
we are doing it the old way for you to try.
The lunch will be four courses:
1. Ceviche
2. Mr. Morley's favorite Mexican soup
3. Turkey Mole Morley with traditional side dishes
4. Tres Leches (a sponge cake-custard dessert)
with mango sorbet
The lunch includes non-alcoholic beverages and is $17 per person;
this does not include gratuity or alcohol.
